Ahhhh..the Car Biz. Ya gotta love it.
Sometimes you can actually smell the subterfuge.
Here is my new favorite, at least until tomorrow.
Nissan Corporation.
Excellent car company. Builds Infiniti, very hot brand.
Maxima–great car. GT-R–Motor Trend Car of the Year
So…why this: ” Hurry Folks! Don’t miss our end-of-the-model year sale going on now.
Nearly all of our vehicles qualify for up to $4500 dollars back on your trade-in (cue the ‘Cash for Clunkers’ graphic). Get up to $4500 dollars off your purchase of the 2009 Sentra, the 2009 Altima…
This means that their end-of-the-year discount amounts to…nothing. Don’t miss that!
If you buy a ‘new’ 2009 Pathfinder, it will cost you $10k in depreciation during your drive over the curb and into the street. If you are hell-bent on buying a new Pathfinder, consider buying the 2010 model. This one will also cost you $10k in depreciation, but at least you will be driving it for that year.
Nissan is a reliable and innovative maker of automobiles. Their vehicles depreciate, on average, slower that most competitors.
‘End-of-the-year-sale’ promotions are full of sound and fury, often signifying nothing. While nearly all companies will offer cash incentives to move these vehicles (yes, their own money, not just the government’s!), be sure to do your research correctly.
Make sure that the rebate is equal to a full year of depreciation. At least!
Happy Driving!

Yeah. heh heh.
Cars are the most depreciable assets one can possess, and not only that, they’re the most likely to fail in some major subsystem, just following the expiration of the warranty period.
Funniest thing about that.
The only way to come out on an automobile purchase is to buy a previously owned vehicle which you have PERSONALLY had tested and reviewed by a competent, disinterested third party whose opinion you trust and whose services he or she is willing to back up with a money-back quarantee.
Which means, in the final analysis, PARTNER…you’re on your own. Look both ways before crossing the street and kneel to pick up whatever it is you just dropped.
